A small town located in Stanislaus County 27 miles southeast of Tracy, Patterson, California prides itself on its grand heritage and tradition, with an emphasis on the historical roots of its community. Historically the land that is now Patterson was reclaimed from a Mexican land grant in 1855 by Samuel G. Reed and Ruben S. Wade, and the deed was signed by none other than President Abraham Lincoln himself. Later subdivided, the land became an assortment of ranches which turned the town into the jewel that it is today. Present day Patterson residents know their town as the “Apricot Capital of the World,” and hold an annual Apricot Fiesta which fills the streets with excitement and laughter. During the festival families and young people drift across the sky in hot air balloons, engage in games, arts and crafts, face painting, a beauty pageant and end the night in wonder following a stunning fireworks display. Students attend one of the excellent public schooling options offered by Patterson Joint Unified School District. Families enjoy Patterson home’s wonderfully preserved parks and recreational facilities on the weekends.
